What type of curriculum do you use?

The Tiny Tot School curriculum incorporates units of learning from two state approved curriculums with thematic units developed by Tiny Tot teachers. The skills, knowledge and behaviors found in the MSDE Early Learning Assessment provide our goals for instruction. Recognizing students’ individual needs, teachers implement engaging lessons to meet these goals. Children who complete our program are ready for kindergarten, and they have developed confidence in themselves and a deep love for learning.

Does the school calendar follow Harford County Public Schools (HCPS)?

The TTS calendar is closely aligned with HCPS, however our school year begins one week after Labor Day and ends the week before Memorial Day. We follow HCPS for inclement weather closures. We do not close early on HCPS scheduled early dismissal days.

What are your teachers’ qualifications?

Every class has two fully qualified teachers with early childhood certification and years of teaching experience. Each classroom has a teacher with a bachelor’s degree in education. All staff members are CPR/First Aid certified. Every Tiny Tot teacher takes multiple continued training courses annually to refine their skills and to know the current research-based practices for educating young children.

What is required to enroll?

Registration opens for the following school year in January. Current and returning families have the first opportunity to enroll. Then new families may register with an online link. Children, apart from those in the Preschool Prep class, must be potty trained by the beginning of the school year.

Can a parent volunteer in the classroom?

Yes, we are grateful for our classroom and at-home parent volunteers. Our license requires parents who volunteer in the classroom to have a background check and be fingerprinted. The director will provide those interested with the necessary paperwork.

Can I tour the school and learn more about what happens in a classroom?

Yes, new families are encouraged to visit our school during a regular school day. Seeing the classrooms alive with activity will give you a feel for what preschool will be like. Parents and children are welcome to attend our Open House in January, or you may schedule a private tour. We are happy to answer your specific questions and show you what makes our program so special!
